Clinical building – Existing system description
The toilets in the Clinical building are supplied from 3 x dedicated 63mm galvanised steel lines originating in the header tank of each lift shaft (see photos in link). Each dedicated 63mm steel line runs to the K (basement) floor and joins the other dedicated lines from each shaft in the ceiling void (see photos in link). This pipe then runs in the ceiling void of the K floor (see photos in link) and joins a set of copper pipes situated in ducts in each bathroom (see photos in link). These two copper pipes provide a dedicated supply to the basins and urinals (15mm copper pipe) and the toilets (32-40mm copper pipe). The greywater header tank is situated in the east shaft and now supplies the entire building with toilet flushing water. The header tanks in the middle and east shafts have been taken out of commission and bypassed.
The plumbing in the Educational building is believed to follow a very system to that of the Clinical building, with decommissioned header tanks and dedicated toilet flushing supply lines.
